Volunteer Information
Volunteers are course marshals, sign up table personnel, and judges. This information pertains to them.
All volunteers should be at The Holler at 12:45 (15 minutes before the event) in order to have a brief meeting. All information is copied below.
Judges
You may use your phone to track scores instead of the template
Each judge will receive a copy of the template from which to work. It will be exactly as shown below
Each rider gets two attempts (two runs down the course). You score each run as shown on the score sheet. Their final score is the best of two runs.
There is a best whip award
Please keep track of who throws a whip. There is no separate whip off this year to avoid accidents due to exhaustion.
Sign up personnel
Every rider must sign both the sign up sheet and a waiver
The number of people that can sign up is exactly equal to the length of the sign up sheet. Once it is full, registration is closed.
The number of riders we allow is strictly limited by our insurance policy
Once sign up is closed, please make two additional copies of the sign up sheet.
The order of the names on all three copies must be exactly the same
In the end there should be three copies
One copy goes to the MC, one copy goes to the upper course marshals, one copy goes to the judges
The reason for this: Without the order of the sign up sheets, riders tend to break in line and go in random order. Judges need to know who they are scoring. Upper course marshals maintain the order, but they can’t do that without a copy. The MC also needs to know who to announce. If everyone has a copy, it makes it less likely that a mistake occurs and allows each group to correct mistakes made by the other groups over the walkie talkies.
Upper course marshals
Upper course marshals are stationed at the roll in, which is usually the tabletop next to the OG Gap
There are two upper course marshals
You will receive at least one walkie talkie
You will receive a copy of the sign up sheet
Riders proceed in the order of the sign up sheet
Wait until the lower course marshal gives an all-clear over the walkie talkie. When they do, send the next rider.
Be sure to announce on the walkie talkie which rider went.
Lower course marshal
The lower course marshal is stationed near the last jump on the holler
Make sure you have good visibility of both the second and third lander
The job of the lower course marshal is to radio the all-clear when a rider is safely off course
If a rider crashes, you must tell everyone over the walkie talkie. If you don’t, the upper marshals might send the next rider.
MC
The MC keeps the party poppin’
You will receive a walkie talkie
You will receive a copy of the sign up sheet
When the lower course marshal gives the all-clear, you may announce the next rider
Riders proceed in the order of the sign up sheet
